Nations Parade

On Thursday 27th August, the Nations Parade followed by the Opening Ceremony will be held at the Festival site.

The Nations Parade is made of 3 simultaneous parades.
Please find below all organisational details about these parades.

Flag Bearers

For the Nations Parade, the youngest representant of each nations is designated as a Flag Bearer. This list has been set up according to the information filled in on the dedicated online form by the participants.
Flags will be handed over to the leader of the team to which the flag-bearer belongs to at the end of the Team Leaders’ meeting on Thursday 27th, at 9.00am.

Schedule

3.00pm – Preparation of the Parade : teams leave the festival site to arrive at the “Esplanade”
4.00pm – Start of the Parade
5.00pm – Speeches, Eye-dotting and Opening Ceremony at the festival site

Registered Teams

Teams have been selected based on a fair distribution by continent then by nation within each continent. Teams for each nation were then selected by random draw, removing any duplicate club representations (two teams from the same club).

Each team present on the water will allow flags from all nations to be represented. The flags distribution is described below.

Team Composition

For safety reasons, you are only allowed to have a maximum of 16 paddlers in your boat for the Boat Parade. The helm needs to be a registered as a helm for the event. And the presence of a drummer is compulsory.

Schedule

3.05pm – Teams called at the Marshalling Tent.
1st group : “Green” boats / 2nd group : “Purple” boats / 3rd group : “Red” boats / 4th group : “Yellow” boats
3.20pm – Teams start loading the boats
4.00pmBoats ready, lined up with the start of the Nations Parade.
Boats slowly move synchronised with the Land Parade.
5.00pm – Boats arrive at the beach, ready for the eye dotting and Opening Ceremony.

12.45pm – Dragon Dancers to meet up at the Dragon Dance base camp.
1pm – Briefing and Dragons preparation
